Open Office 2.0

OpenOffice is an open-source program that we can use it in many languages and works on normal computers. Generally, the site is used for graphics, presentations,databases, and spreadsheet files. The good thing of using OpenOffice is it offer more option than MS Office applications and it is available in variation of languages which is much better compared to what we can have from MS Office applications.

The cons of using this software are it using lot of space on a normal computer (about 336 MB), to beginner it more complex to use than MS Office applications and one of the bad thing is it doesn’t provide an application to create resumes.

The first ever virtual world for Muslims unveiled

This maybe a great news for muslim.The world’s first virtual world for Muslim just launched today, following in the footsteps of popular online communities such as Second Life. This program known as  Muxlim Pal allows consumer to look after a cartoon avatar or ‘pal’ who can move around the world, which promotes Islamic culture.

Users can buy gift such as tea sets with online currency to give to their friends and pals can also go to prayer rooms and dress in clothing including hijabs.

Every pal can  change their number of meters such like govern spirituality, happiness, fitness and knowledge. It accordingly as the task carried out by the character.

After launched the virtual world the founder of Muxlim Pal,  Mohamed El-Fatatry said “We are not a religious site, we are a site that is focused on the Muslim lifestyle” He added “As no other virtual world offers a family-friendly environment for our community, we felt there was a need to cater for the people who were being left out.” According to him the website was create to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Every  user has their own private room that they can adjust and do some decoration. What make it more interesting is the world has a beach bar, arena and place for shopping.

Dont be worried this communities is free to sign-up  and each new user is given a few virtual coins to buy clothing for their pal. Real money can then be used to buy more virtual currency.

Nokia N97-Latest Challenge to iPhone

Nokia just lauched a new product which is consider as latest challenge to the iPhone. According Nokia their latest product , Nokia N97 will become “the world’s most advanced mobile computer” and will boast new services that will transform the way people connect to the internet.

32 GB of memory provided by Nokia N97 is more than twice the capacity of the most powerful iPhone on the market. User also have option to expand the memory to 48 GB with a 16 GB memory card. This means it can store thousands more songs, or hours more video, than its rivals (up to 37 hours of music and 4.5 hours of video playback to be precise).

The pros of Nokia’s new product is the function more likely a mini-computer than a phone. By using N97 we can access the entire internet and not just piece of it . Unlike the iPhone, N97 able to play the Flash videos used on many websites.

The N97 wil cost about $940 but is expected to be subsidised by operators.

World’s first personal supercomputer just unveiled

Last week the world’s first personal supercomputer has been launched. This computer’s speed  is 250 times faster than the normal PC. The price they set which is up to £4,000 maybe cant be afford by most of users but the high-performance processor could become invaluable to universities and medical institutions.The revolutionary Tesla supercomputer was unveiled in London on 4 Dec evening.

The desktop workstations are built with innovative NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs), which are capable of handling simultaneous calculations usually relegated to £70,000 supercomputing ‘clusters’ that take up entire rooms.

‘The technology represents a great leap forward in the history of computing,’ NVIDIA spokesman Benjamin Berraondo said “It is a change equivalent to the invention of the microchip”

GPU-based Personal Supercomputer already being used by PHD students at Cambridge and Oxford Universities and MIT in America for research.

The new system are believed by many Scientists  can help people find cures for diseases.

Alert!:’Koobface’ virus attack Facebook users

This is a bad news for Facebok user. They are being hit by a virus known as ‘Koobface‘ which will seeks out personal details such as credit card numbers. This virus attack PC users through the social network’s messaging system by sending a message with subject like,” You look just awesome in this new movie”

Once the user download that software their computer automatically will be infected. According to McAfee when users try to use search engine’s site like Google, Yahoo, MSN and Live.com they will bring to some contaminated sites. in their blog entry on Wednesday McAfee already alert this news.

Previously , Myspace which is a Social Network owned by News Corp ever hitting by the same virus on last August. Security technology has been used by them to eradicate this virus but sadly it has not cropped up since then.

Facebook has alert their members to delete contaminated e-mails and has posted directions at www.facebook.com/security on how to clean infected computers.

Until now McAfee still cannot identified the perpetrators behind this virus. The people who create Koobface are improving the malicious software behind the virus in a bid to outsmart security at Social Network site like Facebook and MySpace.

‘The people behind it are updating it, refining it, adding new functionalities,’ said McAfee’s Schmugar.
